Biden lies and Trump triumphs in first debate
The contrast between Biden and Trump has never been clearer
On Thursday night, President Donald Trump and P(r)esident Joe Biden faced off in a CNN debate, the first in the 2024 election season.
The event was a great opportunity for mainstream viewers to get a taste of just how confused Joe Biden really is, and just how desperately we need Trump back in the White House.
“We are the most admired country in the world,” Biden said aggressively, denying the open borders crisis, denying Democrat extremism on late-term abortion, and denying everything else that was brought to his attention.
Despite out-of-control illegal immigration, rising migrant-related crime, growing crises overseas in the Middle East and Ukraine/Russia, skyrocketing inflation, and the growing drug/fentanyl crisis, Biden regurgitated party lines and dogged talking points like an automaton.
As Trump spoke, Biden stared into the distance and occasionally touched his ear, drawing speculation (from me, at least), that someone was feeding him lines. And, honestly, it’s hard to believe how the confused elder could do the debate at all without someone helping him. He gets so confused at world events, during speeches, and throughout pressers that it’s highly likely that Biden’s performance on Thursday was only meagerly passable because he had assistance.
Rather than utilizing strong talking points or presenting policy ideas, Biden used recycled talking points that have been debunked over and over. He accused Trump of calling military servicemembers “losers and suckers” (this never happened). He accused Trump of having sex with a porn star (this has never been proven and the porn star in question has even denied this in the past). He accused Trump of being a threat to democracy because, um, stuff and things (it sounds good but it plays out on stage poorly).
Biden mumbled often. He lost his train of thought a few times. At one point, Trump remarked that he didn’t know what Biden said.
“He will drive us into World War III, and we’re closer to World War III than anyone could imagine,” Trump warned.
CNN’s moderators occasionally tried to bait Trump by asking him inflammatory questions about January 6 and by asking if he would “accept” the results of the 2024 election no matter what happened.
Trump said that as long as the election was fair and legal, he would love to.
“There is no evidence [of election fraud in 2020],” Biden said.
Biden called Trump a whiner.
Trump said Biden had a terrible golf swing.
Only one of those statements was true. Guess which one!
Oddly, there was no audience for this debate, but I believe this worked in President Trump’s favor. He was controlled, focused, and well-spoken. The lack of audience feedback may have been meant to protect Biden from becoming confused or distracted, but it was great for Trump.
Biden looked tired. Trump looked ready to step into the Oval Office right now and get down to business - and that obviously showed. It played out well on television and it was a big win for the Trump campaign.
Biden was also no match for Trump’s knowledge on subjects like the economy, foreign policy, and immigration.
What the debate really came down to was Biden’s record versus Trump’s record. Biden’s has been one of dismal failure. Trump’s facilitated economic success, military strength, and immigration/border security.
On these issues, Trump is unmatched. It’s not even a question. The debate, frankly, was over before it even started.
President Trump remains the clear winner.
Trump senior advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said it best in an official statement:
“Tonight President Trump delivered the greatest debate performance and victory in history to the largest voter audience in history, making clear exactly how he will improve the lives of every American. Over and over President Trump highlighted common-sense plans to reduce inflation, bringing down the costs of groceries, housing, and gas, as well as his plans to bring back his successful first-term policies that kept our southern border secure and free from the wave of Biden Migrant Crimes currently sweeping our country.
“Joe Biden on the other hand showed exactly why he deserves to be fired. Despite taking a week-long vacation at Camp David to prepare for the debate, Biden was unable to defend his disastrous record on the economy and the border. Throughout the debate Biden lied, invented stories, and could not articulate a single plan to make things less expensive and keep our people safe, choosing instead to change the subject and dwell on the past. Even worse, Biden couldn’t explain why he took a week of vacation at Camp David while 50 ISIS terrorists ran loose in our country. President Trump is spot-on when he says that if Joe Biden is too incompetent to stand trial, then Biden is too incompetent to be President.
“Americans are struggling financially. The families of Laken Riley, Rachel Morin, Jocelyn Nungaray, and every other victim of Biden Migrant Crime are grieving. Our country is on fire at home and we stand on the brink of World War III because of Joe Biden’s incompetence. But we can turn it all around, and bring back the American Dream, starting on day one, by reelecting President Donald J. Trump.”
