Pro-Palestinian protests are sweeping America...but who is behind them?
Understanding the strange relationship between radical leftists and Palestinian sympathizers
“We’re ALL Hamas, pig!” a masked woman screamed at a Jewish man draped in an Israeli flag. He moved through a crowd of shockingly zealous protestors outside Columbia University over the past week, where another masked demonstrator had just warned ominously, “Keep it moving, you Zionist pig.”
He held a sign that read, “ISRAEL IS COMMITTING MASS MURDER.”
The latest pro-Palestinian demonstration and encampment at the New York school has become so overwhelming for the university to deal with that they have opted to move their classes online, choosing to Zoom with enrolled students rather than do something about the feverish onslaught of anti-Semitism that has captured their university as if it was a foreign country, freshly conquered.
Columbia University President Dr. Nemat “Minouche” Shafik stated that she was “deeply saddened” by what was going on, and tepidly noted that amidst the chaos, “We need a reset.” It’s unclear what kind of “reset” is supposed to fix the offensive behavior that has exploded on their campus.
Remarkably, this is only one of many examples of pro-Palestinian protests that have cropped up across the United States. In April, protestors have shut down both the Golden Gate Bridge and the Oakland Bay Bridge in California, backing up traffic for miles. Protestors blocked roadways in New York, California, and Illinois in mid-April, and they also shut down traffic around the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, causing more traffic issues than anyone wants to imagine.
Most prevalent of all, however, are the protests that are appearing in ever-increasing numbers on America’s college campuses. Via the Associated Press, there have recently been sizable demonstrations at the University of Southern California, George Washington University, The University of Texas (Austin), Harvard University, California Polytechnic University (Humboldt), New York University, Emory University, Emerson College, Yale University, and Northwestern University.
Broadly, the protests have condemned Israel for going to war against Palestine in the wake of the brutal Hamas terrorist incursion that resulted in the deaths of over 1,100 Israeli citizens, including women and children. Over 200 hostages were also taken back to Gaza following the attack.
Israel’s response was immediate and decisive, and while underlying questions remain (how on earth were Hamas terrorists allowed to break through Israel’s defenses to launch such an obvious surprise incursion is a good place to start), the bottom line is this: the Middle East is at war, and in war, innocent people die. Always. That is why war is hell, and that is the primary reason why war is terrible.
That being said, the obvious bottom line remains: Israel is America’s ally, and Palestine is not. The people of Palestine are also remarkably hostile toward the Hebrew people, which diminishes the mainstream narrative that Palestine is completely innocent and wants nothing to do with the genocidal extermination of God’s chosen people.
Case in point: a recent survey from the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research found that 72 percent of Palestinians believe that the bloody Hamas invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023, was “correct.” Clearly, Palestinians in general don’t harbor great love for Israelis, and the reverse is likely true.
Most of this squabble boils down to the Gaza Strip, a threadbare region of territory that has been the source of great tension in the Middle East for many years. In 1948, the State of Israel was created, and in 1949, five hostile Arab countries attacked them. Palestinians took off in the “Al Nakba” or “Catastrophe,” and ended up relegated to Gaza and surrounding countries like Syria, while Israelis have largely settled the West Bank and East Jerusalem, per the BBC.
Essentially, Gaza is split between the Palestinian Authority and Israeli military and civilian settlements. Pro-Palestinian protestors often shout the known anti-Semitic phrase, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” which refers to the geographic region between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. It is essentially a war cry that proclaims the Palestinian argument that calls for the establishment of the State of Palestine. It is not a harmless phrase, either. It often is used as a rallying cry to commit violence against Jewish people.
Palestinians and Israelis have warred with each other for decades, and what is going on between the two countries now is an ongoing manifestation of these heightened tensions. And, without a strong Western authority like the United States to referee the chaos (thank the calculated but embarrassing weakness of Joe Biden for this), the bloodbath is unchecked.
We all know that if President Trump was in the White House, this never would have happened. Why? Because the United States was respected, and because Hamas/Palestine/Iran would not attack Israel (an ally to the U.S.) when that level of strength is apparent. Peace through strength, as Trump often says.
Regardless, the Middle East is in chaos now, and it is sad indeed. Many innocent people in both Palestine and Israel are dying. The region needs to find peace, but that is unlikely, given the current administration’s useless foreign policy approach, which has literally had a hand in facilitating the Hamas attack against Israel by sending billions of dollars to Iran - a known funder of Hamas.
In case you’re wondering if your own government hates you, they absolutely do.
The intensity of U.S. college-aged support for Palestine in this conflict is, nevertheless, odd, when you consider that the same leftwing college kids who will march in the streets for transgender rights while wearing BDSM dog leashes are so quick to support a regime that would quickly execute members of the LGBTQ (and beyond) community without a second thought.
Palestine is, of course, Islamic, and diametrically opposed to homosexuality and certainly the transgender doctrine that has captured Western academia and media. Palestine is no friend to the LGBTQ world, and yet, protesters in places like Columbia don’t seem to care.
For example, a senior member of Hamas, Mahmoud Ishtiwi, was reportedly executed for the “crime” of being gay in 2016, according to internal documents seized in Gaza by the Israeli military. Do you think the GenZ Alphabet Army understands this? Likely not – and if they do, they don’t care! Why? Although it seems insane to any logical person, Palestine, and the leftist radical gender communist movement have one thing in common: they hate America, and they hate the God of Israel. They are, in essence, united in their hatred, whether or not they agree on details like gender identity, religion, and politics.
So, while it’s crazy and chaotic, the alliance between communist and neo-Marxist sympathizers and Palestine makes a lot of logical sense.
And, to be clear, these rampant protests that are in the news every day are not organic – not by a long shot. Dark money from the darkest sources is pouring millions into these demonstrations, and they are designed to artificially ratchet the national temperature up a few degrees, stir the pot among our most vulnerable and emotional voters, and signal to the world: America is falling.
Here are a few of the organizations that are linked to these pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel, and outright anti-Semitic demonstrations around the country:
· The Open Society Foundation. This nonprofit was founded by George Soros. Need I say more?
· Jewish Voice for Peace. Also linked to George Soros. There is nothing pro-Jewish about this organization, despite its deceptive name. They are pouring big money into these events purporting to protect the rights of Palestinians. Don’t forget that JVFP invited a terrorist, Rasmea Odeh, to speak at one of their events. Nothing to see here!
· IfNotNow. This organization is against a cease-fire in the Middle East conflict, calling it “dangerous.” They have accused Israelis of creating an apartheid in Gaza. NBC cheerily reported that IfNotNow has received money from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund – what a shock!
· Within Our Lifetime. Linked to Abdullah Akl. According to NGO Monitor, Akl founded the Muslim American Society, which “federal prosecutors” described as “the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in America.”
· More groups supporting the pro-Palestinian protests on the NGO Monitor’s list include the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights and the Westchester Peace Action Committee.
Do not be deceived into thinking that the pro-Palestinian movement, which is often linked to pro-Hamas sentiments (not always, but often), is organic. It is not. This is being pushed by social media platforms, celebrities, mainstream news outlets, and politicians who are bought and paid for by foreign countries (like Joe Biden).
Many young people are simply not educated enough to do their own research on the conflict in the Middle East to come to a logical conclusion about why Palestine is not the “good” guy in the fight. They cannot extricate their feelings about the terrible killing that comes from war from the facts about why Israel may have been compelled to defend itself in the face of Islamic terrorist savagery.
Rather than asking why unfettered chaos has broken out on the world stage at the hands of a destructive White House administration, they are simply dogmatically screaming anti-Semitic slogans and calling their friends and neighbors “pigs” on campuses like Columbia University.
This is not a generation that understands the ramifications of their ill-advised actions. There will be a price to pay on the global stage for this kind of radicalism and stupidity if we do not do the hard work to ensure that in November 2024, we elect a strong leader to the White House – one who will stop radicalism on college campuses, end the violence in the Middle East, and stick by our commitment to protect our friend and ally, Israel, as we always have.
