Trump runs circles around Biden this week
TPUSA town hall event highlights Trump's off-the-cuff strengths
On Thursday, President Donald Trump stood for an hour-long speech at Turning Point Action’s anticipated town hall event in Phoenix, Arizona.
He fired off a litany of familiar talking points, hammering Biden hard on the unsecured southern border, the crumbling economy, and the threat of World War Three.
Just a little over one week since his shocking conviction in the heart of New York City by a jury in a deep blue Manhattan district, Trump hardly seemed like a man who was plagued with lawfare and surrounded on all sides by his enemies.
He smiled amiably and offered jokes here and there, balancing his humorous proffering with a dash of solemnity as he acknowledged the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
“On this day we remember and thank the immortal heroes that landed at Normandy 80 years ago,” he told the crowd gathered inside Dream City Church.
On the border crisis
He frequently lambasted the open border crisis as “unsustainable” and scorched Biden for allowing millions of unvetted foreigners to cross into the United States from places unknown.
“The country is finished, the border is finished – you won’t HAVE a country anymore…just on this ONE issue,” he warned of Joe Biden’s current trajectory.
He added, “The Biden invasion is no accident. It’s a deliberate DEMOLITION of our sovereignty and our borders.”
Following his long speech, Trump took questions from the crowd. Without any script or handlers feeding him answers or lines, the president proved yet again that he is leaps and bounds – planets and universes – ahead of Joe Biden’s capabilities.
The questions that Trump answered were focused mainly on how he would secure the southern border, address the growing domestic terrorist threat thanks to unfettered foreign incursion, and how he would restore safety.
“We’re going to use federal powers to close it [the border] up,” Trump explained.
He also emphasized the importance of giving law enforcement their authority back, “because right now the law enforcement is just not allowed to do their job.”
Trump reiterated his plan to implement a nationwide deportation operation, explaining that it was totally unsustainable to welcome 20 million illegal foreigners into the country when the United States was currently unable to provide basic needs to its OWN citizens.
“When we keep them here, it costs us millions and millions of dollars,” Trump explained. “…We’re getting them the HELL OUT of our country.”
On keeping China and foreign nations under control
Another point of leverage that Trump highlighted was his ability to use economic power to punish countries like China or Mexico for not only dumping potential criminals and terrorists into the United States, but for facilitating the flow of deadly drugs and human trafficking.
“We have tremendous economic power,” Trump said. “…If China or some other country is behaving badly, we have things called tariffs that are SO severe.”
On energy and inflation
Energy and gas prices are out of sight. This is no surprise to any American who has to pay a power bill or put fuel in their car. On this point, Trump noted that “we have the greatest inflation, in my opinion, in the history of our country…you look at the cost of food and you look at the cost of energy and you see where it is…it’s much higher [than they say] and they don’t include a lot of things.”
The president said that the rising domestic prices essentially boiled down to one factor: energy. “We have more liquid gold under our feet than any other nation,” he said, speaking about oil.
He stated that if the energy prices were to come down, the prices of food and goods would also drop significantly. Trump also reminded the crowd that during his administration, “we had the greatest economy in the history of our country.”
On healthcare
It’s safe to say that healthcare is not the cornerstone of President Trump’s reelection campaign. He has positioned himself to address the most pressing needs of Americans today, and those issues are bullet-pointed in the economy, the border crisis, and the threat of a looming world war. Trump recently stated in an interview with Dr. Phil McGraw that he could have the war in Ukraine ended as president-elect, without even stepping foot in the Oval Office.
Based on his record of swinging peace deals during his first term, this doesn’t seem farfetched at all.
When it comes to healthcare, Trump said that he would pick up where he left off and emphasize access to hospitals and medical care in rural America for citizens – not illegals. “Rural America votes for Trump,” he remarked. “…We started a process for building hospitals and other things, and we’re going to keep that going…rural America, look: it’s the backbone, it’s the heart of America.”
What’s next for President Trump?
The president will head to Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, June 9, for a MAGA rally in the desert of the Silver State. It will be his first rally since his conviction in New York on May 30.
Are we headed for a rematch of Trump v. Biden?
